A year ago, very few of us had heard about Under Armour sports brand and most of us would not have called base layers by names like ColdGear and Heatgear! But how things have changed in the last year...
This is now becoming the number one preferred brand by sportsmen, women and teams. And you know that's it's the brand to be seen in when teenagers are insisting on wearing it.
Who are they? Under Armour gear comes from America where they are well known for their well fitting, moisture wicking clothing designed to be worn under sportswear. The company was founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank, an America football player who invented the product to wear in stead of sweat soaked T-shirts. The company is now a supplier of a range of sportswear and other sports stuff such as footwear, headgear and mouth gear and the company continues to expand its offerings. Their products are now widely available, not just in the US but in the UK, Europe and elsewhere all over the world.
The gear is really good but it does not come cheap. You will pay over £20 for a short sleeve T-shirt and a long sleeve one can cost anything up to £40. What's fabulous though is that you can choose your preferred fit from loose to tight depending what you preference is.
There is a good choice of products for men, women and children and they come in various colours too. They may come across as expensive, but they are so durable that in the long run, you will get your moneys worth from your Under Armour gear.
Where Nike and Adidas used to have almost a monopoly on high profile sponsorships, there are now several sports teams in the UK sponsored by Under Armour such as the Welsh Rugby team, and now Tottenham Hotspurs football team being the latest to announce their shirt deal with Under Armour.

Cold weather technical sports wear
The weather is turning cold. There was a time when that would have stopped adults and kids alike from all sports activity outdoors. But there is no need for that today. Despite the unusually cold weather this early in the year all over the UK, we still want to get out doors and do our stuff.
The good news is that modern technology now helps to produce cold weather gear that keeps us both warm, dry and comfortable what ever the weather. Companies such as Under Armour and Canterbury manufacture base layer clothing for men, women and children in various colours and types. They come as tops and bottoms, as well as underwear and accessories with a choice of colours.
To buy your own coldgear base layers, you find a selection of products on the high street as well as a choice of online retailers. This gear is a bit "technical", so it worth while spending a little bit of time before you part with your cash. The gear is brilliant, but it is not cheap e.g. you don't want to rush and buy just to find out from others that there is a more suitable product on the market, for a bargain price else where! For example, the gear comes is three different fits - compression, standard and loose - and it's worth thinking through what is the right one for you!
